News - January to March 2008

Saturday 29th March

Not too much to write about at the moment. Kye and Matilda are doing very well and will soon be out and about once they have had their second vaccination. Today, we have added new photos to the galleries of Seamus, Liam and Rattan. Thanks everyone, for sending them to us.

Sunday 23rd March

Today Seamus has won his second CC in Sweden at his second show. Once again, he finished second best dog after Lleyton. More coming soon on this.

We have added pages for Matilda and Kye - not too many photos at the moment as they don't want to keep still for long enough! Also, the Current Litters page has been updated with photos and info about puppies available in the north of England. Most importantly, new photos and a video clip of Grynet have been added to her page (Go to 'New Arrivals')

Tuesday 18th March

Grynet has been mated. Dez certainly 'Diddit' for her! Hopefully some beautiful puppies coming soon to Kennel Barecho - please see details on the Barecho website via our Links page.

We thank Emelie Karlsson for sending photos of Seamus' day at Malmo. Go to Seamus' gallery on his own page.

Sunday 16th March

Fantastic news from Sweden....Seamus went to his very first show today in Malmo and won his first CC and was second best dog after his uncle Lleyton!! How pleased and proud we are. More information and may be a photo to follow tomorrow.

Liam and Lila went with Dave to the SWESS Open show today - a good day as they finished Reserve Best Dog and Reserve Best Bitch respectively. Hopefully photos to follow shortly.

This weekend, four of the Peasblossom C Litter left us for their new homes. We would like to wish Lily, Bailey, Darcy and Tia joyful lives with their new families. Matilda and Kye will be staying here with us and they will have their own dedicated pages very soon.

Tuesday, 11th March

Seamus is finally back with Helene. He arrived there late last night - what a long trip! He is perfectly well and happy so now we are happy! We received a lovely photo of him from Ragnhild, waiting for the ferry at Puttgarden in Germany, with his two flat-coat travelling companions, Puzzel and Klura. Photo in Seamus' gallery...

Beautiful photo of Rattan taken the day after Crufts added today. Congratulations to Trudy and David for the success they are having with Ratts so far. Long may it continue....!!

Sunday, 9th March

Well Crufts has been and gone for another year! We were pleased with our results on the day. Liam was third in Special Puppy Dog and enjoyed every second as always! Seamus was second in Special Yearling Dog, and Lila was also third in Special Puppy Bitch and also thought it was probably the best day of her life so far!! Little 'Rats', Peasblossom Butterfly at Beresford did us all proud by winning Special Puppy Bitch, so first and third in the same class at Crufts was our achievement of the day.

Seamus competed at the Junior Warrant Final in the evening but only a winner and a reserve place were awarded. They went respectively to a 'champion' poodle and a 'champion' beagle. We were thrilled with Seamus' happy performance in the final, however. I, (Jacky) did not create the impression I had hoped for in the big Arena at Crufts as the hem of my trousers had come down, and had to be sellotaped and stapled (!) up. Not good!!!

The day ended on a very sad note as Seamus left to go to Sweden for a few months. He is going to stay with his breeders, Helene and David Bjorkman until early June, and will be shown at some Swedish shows. A friend of Helene's generously agreed to take Seamus back with her from Crufts, but it was heartbreaking for us to say goodbye to our special boy. We must thank Frank Bjerklund and Stig Kjellevold for their support and kind words of reassurance at what was a traumatic time for us both.

Now, two days on, it is unbelievable to think that just one dog would make that much difference to the feel of our home. After all, we have another seven not to mention, six puppies, but Seamus has left a big hole. We understand that he is nearly with Helene now and we send him all of our love and best wishes for his time there.

Anyway, on to happier things....Grynet has finally obliged us with coming in season. We expect her to be mated next week to a special English boy and then arrangments will be made to return her to Sweden also. Helene and David must have missed their little girl, Grynet so much (as we can now very much understand!) and no doubt will be desperate to see her again. Fingers crossed for some lovely English x Swedish babies in the not too distant future for Kennel Barecho.

We have managed to take some photos of our pups today. Obviously we need some lessons from Helene in 'puppy-standing' techniques, because we have taken about a million photos to get just a few decent ones. It will probably be hard to believe that these photos are the best ones, but sadly they are......!

Wednesday, 5th March

Happy Birthday to Rattan, Freya, Chilly, Charlie, Stanley, Benson, Bertie and of course Liam - the Peasblossom 'B' litter - one year old today! Hopefully there will be sausage ceremonies all over the country today!

Thank you to everyone who has left Congratulations messages for last weekend, and for all the emails and cards wishing us good luck for Crufts. We promise we will reply to everyone once it is over!

Eventually we hope to add new photos of the 'C' litter pups to the site but they are all doing well, if a little rotund! Can these really be Teasel and Seamus children???? Perhaps a stork brought them...but it must've been a big one!!

Sunday, 2nd March

After a long break from showing, Seamus returned to the ring with style today to take Best In Show at the Midland ESS Society Open Show. The judge was Dr. Barbara Scorgie. It was especially rewarding as it was at the same show a year ago, at only his second show in England, that he took Best Puppy In Show. However, it was not all about Seamus as Lila also thrilled us by winning both the Junior and Yearling classes at only just over 12 months. A good day all round.

Well, the count down to Crufts has begun. Today was intended as practice for the dogs we have entered so we are pleased that it went well. We have no up to date photos of the puppies to add but hopefully this coming week, or at the very lastest, next weekend, we will be updating the site with new photos of them. Suffice to say, they are doing very well.

Tuesday, 26th February

New photos added today of Rattan, aged 11 months. These were all taken at the SESSS Champ Show by our friend Lesley McCourt - thank you to her. See Rattan's gallery to view them on her dedicated page.

Sunday, 24th February

Great news from the SESSS Championship Show yesterday. Rattan (Peasblossom Butterfly at Beresford) won her Puppy Bitch class and went on to finish Reserve Best Puppy In Show. Well done Rats - we're proud of you! Hopefully there will be a photo to share...eventually...!!

The puppies are all doing well. On Friday, they left their whelping box for the puppy pen in the kitchen so they have more room to move around. It is a bit of a squash for Mum and all six puppies in the new bed as you will see from the photos added to their gallery. Still, Teasel spends less time with them now and mostly they are sprawled all over the floor, just enjoying the odd cuddle with Mum. This weekend we have been meeting all the prospective owners of these puppies. They will all have lovely homes.

Two new photos of Holly have arrived from Kennel Barecho which we have added to the gallery on her dedicated page. We are so happy with how she is coming on and can't wait to see her.

Friday, 8th February

All is still going well here and the puppies are looking super at this stage. Their eyes are beginning to open now, they are staggering about the whelping box, and starting to nibble at each other. All in all, we are very pleased and Teasel has been a model Mum.

Seamus, Liam and Grynet went for their annual eye tests on Wednesday and all were perfect. Excellent news.

Friday, 1st February

Today, the Peablossom A Litter, our first litter, is a year old. We send good wishes to them all! Teasel's pups doing well. New photos to follow soon. Apologies to Rattan for her very brief appearance on the Welcome page - she'll be back!!!

Tuesday 29th January

Excellent news to share. 'Rattan', Peasblossom Butterfly at Beresford went Best Puppy In Show at the Lancs & Cheshire Breed Club Open Show at the weekend. The judge was Julia Grant (Canouan). 'Well Done Rats!' from all of us!!!!

Teasel's puppies are doing really well, she is a wonderful and devoted Mum to them and everyone is happy......

Thursday 24th January

Teasel's puppies have arrived! Three girls and three boys all born yesterday on their due date. Both mother and babies are doing fine. All the puppies are liver and white but one boy and one girl also has tan markings. They were all a good weight - nearly a pound in weight each one and are very even in every way. Photos to follow shortly. We will also be in touch with everyone interested in one of these puppies in the very near future.

Tuesday 15th January

There has been no news for a while. Certainly no showing news. The weather in this part of the world has been indescribably bad - wet, windy, cold, miserable. So not so indescribable really - just bad!! Suffice to say our garden is all mud and we have realised that it is impossible to get the dogs ready for a show when wet!! Our scissors are now all blunt from trimming muddy coats, our dog room is awash so roll on spring!!!! It cannot come soon enough!!! What a tale of woe!

Teasel is getting quite large now and has already decided that going for walks is too much for her and takes herself off home. Fair enough! We are in the process of getting the whelping box ready for the new arrivals that are due in a weeks time.
