May - June 2009

Tuesday 30th June

Today we had to make the hardest decision and say goodbye to our beautiful Summer. She was twelve years old. We are very sad. Thank you Celia, for the wonderful poem.

Thursday 25th June

Still no news here at present. Seamus has settled back in and is quickly remembering how to get through doors and open gates that he isn't supposed to! A new photo has been added of one of his children in Sweden, to his 'offspring' page. Also a new photo of Sadie, Peasblossom Dream, added to the Photo Gallery (main menu) with her little Beresford pal.

Today is Summer's 12th Birthday!!! We can hardly believe that she has made this grand old age and even though she is not in the best of health, she is still soldiering on. Long may she continue to do that... Happy Birthday Summer! The photo on our Welcome page is of Summer taken in her much younger years.....

Monday 15th June

Well we are back from Denmark with Seamus who is looking great and happy!!! We spent a lovely weekend with Helene, David, Seamus, Claudia and Vera the Cocker, going to shows on Saturday and Sunday. Both days, Seamus finished RBD, winning the CC and CABIB. Cutting a very long explanation short, this means he is now a Danish Champion and with his Swedish and Norwegian titles, also a Nordic champion. Congratulations to Helene and David!!!! He also needs to win one more CACIB, a year and a day after the first, to become an International Champion, so it looks as though we will be on the hunt for that in the spring of next year.

A successful weekend too, for Claudia (Holly's sister) who won the CACIB both days, finishing Best Bitch both times too. We really liked the informal atmosphere at the shows and loved the tents that everyone puts up around the ringside - the same in Sweden too - they do not have marquees and benching as we do and it makes for a good atmosphere as all exhibitors are around the ringside watching all the judging.

We had a horribly long and tiring journey home as the whole of Germany seemed grid-locked with roadworks. This meant we were home much later than planned and of course, much more tired.

Tuesday 9th June

Some lovely news from Sweden that Seamus has been awarded his Norwegian Show Champion title. Next weekend he is attending two shows in Denmark and the hope is that he will get his Nordic Champion title there. We will be there to watch Seamus and will be bringing him home after that. Can you just imagine how excited we are???

Congratulations too, to Kasia, Marcin and Zeneck on another fantastic show day in Slovakia, were he finished BOB, BIG and RBIS!!!

All quiet here, no show news at all to report on. Having (another!) long rest before our show season starts in earnest. More soon....

Tuesday 2nd June

I spent a great weekend in Poland, meeting lovely people and dogs with much talk of springers, dog shows and judging. It is amazing how alike dog people are all over the world, sharing the same goals, aspirations and experiences not to mention the same disappointments and concerns.

Kasia and Marcin of Kennel Lordsett made me feel so welcome. I have eaten some Polish food - some Pierogi, abit like Ravioli and enjoyed some Zubrowka (Polish Vodka) which, mixed with apple juice, tasted like apple pie.! Very nice! :) It was great to see their new baby boy and their springers who were all so happy! We have decided to use one of their males, 'Zeneck' in the future but more on that later on. In the meantime, thank you Kasia and Marcin for your hospitality. Hopefully we can return the favour one day soon!

Ninja attended her first show locally with Dave. Not too much to say, but she was second. It appears that more attention needs to be given to her figure following her litter of puppies.... Well done to Wendy and Steve, however, for Frankie's BOB win and eventual Best In Show!!!

A little bit of good news - Mattie attended the ESA European Spaniel Show in the Czech Republic held over the two days of last weekend. Under Frances Jackson, she finished second in her Junior class and under Bob Jackson, the following day, won her class and finished with Junior CAC and Junior Club Winner, graded 'Excellent' both days. I hope that is right but well done from both of us!

Thursday 28th May

No real news to speak of at present... but today is Izzie's 4th Birthday and a sausage ceremony is planned for this evening. Next week we will take some up to date photos for her gallery. This weekend I am flying to Poland, 'talent-scouting' - more on that next week hopefully. Ninja is going to an Open Show on Sunday, her first show since arriving in England. She is looking quite naked after her puppies, but it will be good practice for her (and Dave!!)

Seamus is the proud father of two litters, one born in Holland at Kennel Obsession In Blue, to Dutch Ch Dexbenella Devil Woman - two bitches, three dogs and the second in Sweden at Kennel Mayamore to their bitch Goldflame's Rosewood - seven bitches and one dog. Many congratulations from us both.

Wednesday 20th May

Finally, after much soul-searching and consideration we have made a decision about the next litter at Peasblossom! The sire is a carefully chosen male that we first saw as a puppy last year in Stockholm. We loved him then, have watched his progress with great interest and have been thrilled to see him go from strength to strength. We feel he is the perfect choice for Izzie, but please go to our 'Planned Litters' page for full details.

Saturday 16th May

No show news for us but great to hear that some Seamus babies are having a good spell in the ring - Gaolachcara Oghma and Cliodna ('Toash' and 'Kaila') have been winning classes at ESSC of Scotland, WELKS and SKC. Well done from all of us and keep it up!!

Some other good news - both Izzie and Lila have been DNA-tested for PRA Cord 1 and both are clear.

Monday 11th May

Some fantastic news that Lila has won her first CC at the Birmingham National Championship show, under judge George Clark (Reulemill). What a huge and wonderful surprise!! Both Lila and Holly had been entered but unfortunately Holly was ill the weekend before and in true Peasblossom style, ended up on a drip at the vets! She is fully on the mend now but looking a bit on the skinny side. So only Lila made the trip to Stafford and how truly worthwhile it was. We were thrilled when she won her Post Graduate class let alone anything else but absolutely stunned and overwhelmed when she was awarded the Bitch CC and BOB. A great day, made even better by Christine Savell's Petranella Perfick winning his third and crowing CC and Helen Cokell's Trimere Thrills And Frills winning her first RCC. Congratulations to all at Petranella and Carlyquinn!

New photo added to Lila's gallery of the win... thanks Jane xx Thanks too everyone for all the messages of Congratulations, cards, emails etc. It means a lot!

Dixie and Dusty have now left for their new homes and we wish them lots of love and happiness for the future. Hopefully, more will be seen of both Dixie (Peablossom Daybreak) and Sadie (Peasblossom Dream) as they have left for show homes. Watch this space for more information and developments. In the meantime, a few new pics of the D litter pups have been added to the Photo Gallery in the main menu.

Finally, our computer is back. Sadly, despite a nice fat bill, the fault hasn't been repaired and we have lost all our email addresses to boot. Unimpressed of Mersham!! We have managed to find a fair few 'dog' peoples' contact details but unfortunately anyone who has contacted us about a puppy in the future - sorry, but we have lost you. Please get in touch again when you get a chance.

Friday 1st May

New photo added to Photo Gallery (main menu) of little Lola (Peasblossom Dandelion). Also new photo added to Holly's gallery, taken by Steve Walker at the ESSC Champ Show.

Our computer is 'unwell' and needs to go away for a while. So, there will be no updates for a short time or any response to emails etc. How will we survive???
