Monday 28th June
Quite a bit of news to share this time. I have been off to Denmark for the World Winners Show 2010 and Dave has been to Blackpool. And now that I know that he is perfectly capable of trimming and bathing the dogs without my help, I think he has a job for life!!!
Denmark was glorious! Great company, perfect weather, lovely dogs! What could be better than that? Thursday was the actual Winners Show, where Best Dog and Best of Breed went to Ch Siegers Pool Position and Best Bitch to Ch Siegers Extra Point. Judges were Per Iversen for the dogs and Susie Svoldgaard, the bitches. The following day was the Spaniel Speciality organised by the Danish Spaniel Club. Judge for both dogs and bitches was Kate Keely (Alhambra). Best of Breed and Best In Show was the bitch this time, Ch Siegers Extra Point with RBOB going to S. Pool Position. There were many nice springers on show over the course of these two shows.... some of them can be seen in the gallery below.
As for Blackpool ... Dave set off for the show at some hideously early hour to meet Jane at Tescos in Dunmow with three of her dogs and from there, non stop to the show venue. Judge for the day was Bob Jackson (Mompesson). The first of our dogs was our top boy, Seamus who won a strong Open Dog class which he followed up by taking the Dog CC, his eighth! Straight on to Minor Puppy Bitch which Elin won and then finally Holly was awarded first place in Post Graduate Bitch. The problem of having two bitches in the challenge was solved with the help of Graeme Graham - a young junior handler from South Africa. Thanks for your help Graeme! A super day culminating in a BOB for Seamus! Nothing in the challenge for our girls although Elin was awarded Best Puppy Bitch overall. A long, but happy drive home followed.
Tuesday 22nd June
Border Union has come and gone - a lovely day for us at a beautiful venue with perfect weather - a far cry from last weekend! Our judge for the day was Barbara Ganarin (Berkenbar). We took only three dogs and travelled up through the night with Lesley and her two girls, Isla and Eula. We arrived at 6.30 am before the show had even opened! Seamus was placed second in Open Dog and was awarded the Reserve Dog CC. Elin won the Puppy Bitch Class and Holly was placed third in a wonderful Post Graduate Class. In the challenge, Elin was given the nod for Best Puppy. Lesley's two girls were fifth and second respectively.
After the show we went back to a B & B in Selkirk - a brilliant 'internet find' by Lesley where the dogs had acres of land to run and play in not to mention a loch that Seamus and Holly soon located. The hospitality was second to none and the dogs were made so welcome. It was a lovely weekend and we were more than sorry to leave Scotland. I have already downloaded some property details for Selkirk!!!!
Aside from Border Union, we have some other snippets of news to share.... Mattie (Peasblossom Caress) attended an international outdoor show at Uden in Holland, once again finishing Best Bitch with the CAC and CACIB. Congratulations to owners, Rudo and Helma (and have a good holiday!!)
Kitkat (P Eternity) attended her first puppy obedience test at a summer club tournament with her owners in Denmark and finished Best Puppy overall, scoring 64 out of 65 points!! Her critique for the day read "Super energetic and joyfully working dog. Calm handling prevents the dog from getting over-keen. Nice teamwork." Now she starts training for First Grade which is the first of the four official Danish Kennel Club obedience programmes. Well done Kitkat and Susann and lots of luck with the next step!!
Finally, Murphy (P Eclipse) - Elin, Kitkat and Robin's brother attended a Companion Dog Show at Castle Bytham in Lincolnshire, finishing Best Puppy overall and also Reserve Best in Show!!! Well done to you all - hope you don't get the bug now....!! Thanks to Anne too for helping with the trimming!!
Monday 14th June
A super day spent at the NESSS Championship Show in Darlington yesterday under judge, Sally Lesley (Risdene). In a moment of madness, we had entered five dogs at the show which meant days of preparation getting them ready and looking like show dogs:) The weather was atrocious and it rained pretty much the whole day. Judging was outside. First up was Robin (P Escape to Beresford) who won Minor Puppy Dog, Puppy Dog and Maiden Dog. Kye was placed third in Graduate. Seamus was our shining star yesterday, winning Open Dog and the Dog CC, his seventh! Robin was awarded Best Puppy Dog overall. Elin was the first of our girls and won Minor Puppy Bitch. Holly was unplaced in Post Graduatre Bitch although Rattan (P Butterfly at Beresford) was placed 4th in the same class! Ninja, on her first outing for nearly a year, was awarded a fourth place in Limit Bitch and as she has 4-month old puppies at home and looks a little 'naked' we were very happy with that!
Seamus ultimately was awarded RESERVE BEST IN SHOW to Sh Ch Trimere Tigra and Robin was BEST PUPPY IN SHOW!! A lovely day for our kennel - worth the long drive there and back! Congratulations to Trudy for Robin's successful run - and also well done to Lesley for gaining not just one, but two Junior Warrants on the day with Eula and Ash!!
Anyway, some new photos added to both Seamus and Robin's dedicated pages...
Monday 7th June
Good news from the Beresford camp that Robin was Best Puppy In Breed at Ripon Open Show yesterday, finishing Best Puppy in Group and Reserve Best Puppy In Show!!! Clever boy! Well done Trudy, BOB and BP on the same day!
Saturday 5th June
Hard to believe that June is here already! The weather has been very, very hot and could do with being less so. Have taken the dogs out in the woods to keep out of the sun and they still managed to find a black and filthy bog to go in despite the fact it is so dry everywhere. They must have homing devices fitted to find these revolting places... sigh! Off to the Northern next weekend where the weather is always lovely as well as the venue and the food! Didn't go to Southern Counties yesterday but Robin went with Trudy and finished second in Minor Puppy Dog.
We have received some lovely photos of Kitkat (P Eternity) and a few of them have been added to her gallery. Go to Dogs Bred By Us to find her page.
Monday 31st May
At last some really super news has arrived from Holland. Yesterday at the National Gundog show held at Castle Heukelom, Mattie was awarded the last CC necessary for her Dutch Champion title. This was her first opportunity since she turned 27 months old. She did it in style too, winning BOB under Belgian judge, Mr P Lammens, Group 8 under Mr V Grundetjern from Norway and then to finish off a fantastic day, went BEST IN SHOW under judge, Mrs S Jarmer from Austria. Congratulations to Helma, Rudo and all at Kennel van het Veense Springertje! We are very proud of Mattie who now has the impressive title of Dutch Ch Peasblossom Caress Njk.08 JW 08 W09. A new photo of her taken at the show is on the front page and one or two more have been added to her dedicated gallery - go to 'Dogs Bred By Us' to locate.
It was also the Bath Championship Show on Saturday in the pouring rain. We had a a good day there but I'm afraid that Mattie has knocked Robin off the front page for a while!! Robin (P Escape to Beresford) won Puppy Dog and overall Best Puppy In Breed. Kye won Post Graduate Dog and Holly won Post Graduate Bitch and finished Reserve Best Bitch overall. Judge for the day was Richard Stafford.
Sunday 23rd May
Still nothing exciting to say at the moment. Weather beautiful but probably a bit too hot if we're honest - never happy are we?? Somehow, despite the heat, Kye has managed to get 'Dead Tail' this week! After beginning to think that 'Dead Tail' was actually just a fairy story - it has happened - to Kye of course! For a couple of days, his tail just hung down - with a face to match! Poor boy! But it is now on the mend fortunately so panic over!!
Some new photos added to the Photo Gallery in the main menu today - a few of Kitkat who looks to be doing really well with her obedience training and one of Jerry (Peasblossom Gusto) trying to force his way through the cat flap - typical springer!!
Off to our first show in a while next weekend, so more news to follow after that.....
Monday 17th May
Another well done to Robin (P Escape to Beresford) who went BEST PUPPY IN SHOW at Mid Herts Gundog yesterday under judge, Valerie Foss. Think we might have to get some up to date photos of him soon!
No more news here at the moment but some photos have been added to Seamus' offspring page - of Desperado Aya in Norway, Mayamore Baby Romanze and her litter mate Mayamore Belle Prosperity and last but certainly not least, Seaspring Shipwrecked.
Saturday 8th May
Great news from Birmingham National today, that under judge Frank Kane, Robin (Peasblossom Escape to Beresford) won his Minor Puppy Dog class and was declared Best Puppy Dog overall. Top boy!!!!
We are waiting to hear about the fortunes of Mattie (Peasblossom Caress) in the coming weeks. Mattie will become a Dutch Champion as soon as she wins her first CC after the age of 27 months. She was 27 months on 23rd April so we will keep our fingers crossed for some good news in the not too distant future. A recent photo of her below from the International Show at Leiden where she was declared BOS and awarded the CACIB under judge, Mrs Halff-van Boven.
