Sunday 31st October
Quite a lot to catch up on ... Dave went to the Welsh Club Championship show and that's about as much of a mention that the day warrants! Holly's puppies are continuing to flourish. Some new photos and video clips have been added to the Current litters page. A great deal of change in them over the last week or so with them now weaned and playing and with plenty to say for themselves. In the next day or two they will be moved out to kitchen where they will have more room to play and learn.
Some good news received that Kitkat has been hip-scored with an 'A' grade and has passed too for the eye conditions, PRA, MRD & Glaucoma. She is hereditarily clear for PRA Cord 1 and Fucosidosis.
Some Seamus babies have been having some wonderful successes in the show ring lately with a special mention for Mac, Dexbenella It's About Time winning BPIB at Midland Counties and his sister, Olivia, D Inquisitress finishing Best Puppy Bitch at her last two Champ Show outings. Well done!
Today it was the Midland English Springer Spaniel Society Champ show. Judge was Christine Savell. This is our last show this year and we are very pleased about that. Another super day for Seamus progeny. Eddie (Seaspring Shipwrecked) was second in Minor Puppy Dog at his first show. Mac again won Puppy Dog and finished Best Puppy Dog overall. Graduate was won by Elaine and Raymonds' GaolachCara Oghma, our own Kye won Post Graduate and Elaine's other boy, GaolachCara Somlthh won Special Beginners Dog. Four Seamus sons in the challenge - fabulous! Seamus himself was second in Open with nothing further. Strange and just a little bit sad that....! Robin, Peasblossom Escape to Beresford won Junior so a good day for the boys all round. We only had Elin there of our girls who was second in Junior and Rattan (P Butterfly at Beresford) was also second in her very first Limit class.
Friday 22nd October
New photos and a couple of video clips added of Holly's babies today.....
Monday 18th October
Not much news but some new photos added today. Go to Current Litters page for some new ones of the babies who incidentally are doing very well. Also, Seamus' offspring gallery has been updated and a new one added of Forrest to the Photo Gallery in main menu.
Wednesday 13th October
Today, another show, this time Gundog Society of Wales at Malvern for the opinion of judge, Gordon Haran. Dave went again with Seamus and Elin. Seamus was placed second in Open Dog and awarded the RDCC. Elin was second in Junior..... either way, a nice run of shows for us!
Holly's babies continue to blossom - a couple of new photos have been added to their page. More soon...
Sunday 10th October
Yesterday it was South Wales Championship Show at Builth Wells. Judge for the day was Frances Jackson. Dave made the journey with Seamus and Elin... we have given up for the time being with Lila :( Our special boy, Seamus did it again winning a lovely Open Dog class and being awarded both the DCC and BOB!! We are so proud of him! Elin was second in her first Junior class. Another nice day for the Dexbenella Seamus babies, with Mac winning MPD and Olivia MPB and Best Puppy Bitch overall. Well done!
Holly's babies are coming on really well and gaining plenty of weight. It is hard to imagine that only four days ago, they all fitted inside her! Holly herself is a model Mum! Go to Current Litters page and look for the link to some new photos....
Thursday 7th October
Holly's puppies are here! A lovely litter of nine - six girls and three boys. Mother and babies all doing really well. More photos to follow soon...
Gigi has left us this week for a new home in Hampshire. We are delighted though as she will continue to be shown and we will have the opportunity to see her regularly. We send lots of luck and all our love for a wonderful future with Kathy and her new family. We really miss her smiles already!! A new page has been set up for Gigi - go to 'Dogs Bred By Us' in the main menu to locate it.
Finally, and shamefully, we forgot the E litter's first Birthday on the 3rd October! Many happy 'belated' returns to Robin, Eva, Kitkat, Murphy, Monty, Oscar and of course Elin. We will have the sausage ceremony later on today! A photo has been added to the Gallery (Main Menu) of Oscar on his Birthday and one of Rattan on holiday!
Sunday 3rd October
Plenty of news to catch up on this time. Last weekend was the Belfast Champ show - too far for us, but Trudy and David made the trip across the sea to Ireland and knotched up another Best Puppy In Breed with Robin and a second in Post Grad with Rattan.
This Friday just gone was Driffield Champ Show with judge Bev Nicolson (Kingsheath) presiding. Another good day overall for our kennel with Robin second this time in Puppy Dog. Seamus won a super Open Dog Class and was awarded the RESERVE DOG CC! Elin was fourth in Puppy Bitch as was Lila in Limit Bitch (the diet continues....!) The thrill of the day, however, was Rattan (P Butterfly at Beresford) winning the Post Graduate Bitch class and going on to take the BITCH CC, her first. Congratulations from us both to Trudy and David, it has been a long time coming but hopefully worth the wait! Some photos of the day have been added to Rattan's gallery.
Gallagher left us for a wonderful new home. He has settled in really well and his new family are 'smitten' with him. Photo below, taken of him at seven months.
Sunday 19th September
Darlington Champ Show today for the opinion of judge, Kelly Jenkinson. It was the first show for our new baby, Gigi (Peasblossom Geisha) who made us very proud when she finished both first in Minor Puppy Bitch and Best Puppy Bitch overall. Kye won his first Post Grad class as he is now up with the bigger boys. Lila, at her first show in more than a year was fourth in Limit Bitch - she is still counting the calories sadly and looks like she will be for quite some time to come! It wasn't the best day for either Robin or Elin who finished respectively second and third in their Puppy classes but overall it was a super day for Seamus kids! Gigi and Kye of course but the biggest thrill of the day was Elaine and Raymonds' GaolachCara Cliodna winning a lovely Post Grad class and the Reserve Bitch CC - her first! We send lots of love and congratulations to you all. So well deserved - she always looks so beautiful and we hope this might be the start of some wonderful things to come! Almost forgot to say that Rattan was second in Post Grad bitch. Not a bad day at all... :)
Monday 13th September
Yesterday it was Richmond Champ Show. A local show for us but we decided to leave it all to Robin, who finished Best Puppy In Breed again under judge Meriel Hathaway. He also finished second in the Puppy Stakes! Well done Robin!
Kitkat came to visit us yesterday along with her owners, Susann and Peter and Flatcoat, Pandra. It was great to see her after so long and especially to see how happy and loved she is. She and Elin had a tearabout in the garden looking like two peas in a pod! Kitkat sounds as though she is doing well in her obedience training and clearly loves every second of her life. Below is a small selection of photos of her participating in her favourite pastime, that of searching for and finding golf balls!
Wednesday 8th September
Well we are having some very autumnal weather right now, not cold but damp, misty mornings and the nights are drawing in. Will soon be Christmas!! That we can cope with but the miserable and endless months of winter are not something we are looking forward to! But looking on the bright side, all the more time to spend on Facebook! So much for us giving it up to spend more time doing 'sensible things'!!
Anyway Robin has given us something to cheer about in the absence of any shows for us. Last weekend, off he went to Birmingham City Champ Show under judge, Valerie Foss. He was placed first in Puppy Dog and was awarded Best Puppy In Breed again. He had hours and hours to wait for the Puppy Group but managed to keep his mind on the job in hand where he finished Puppy Group 2 under judge, Martin Sanders. Whoop whoop!! What a little cracker he is!!!
Birmingham City proved to be a good day too, for the Dexbenella Seamus babies. Mac finished second in Puppy Dog (no Minor Puppy classes - how awful!!) and Olivia was Best Puppy Bitch overall. Well done from us both!
Kyle (Gaolachcara Somhlth) - one of Seamus' older sons - also had a good weekend too, finishing 3rd in the Gundog Group at Perthshire Canine Club. Neo (Meadowdale Neo) on a recent outing to Suffolk Kennel Open Show won BPIB and went onto to win the Gundog Puppy Group!! Really well done to all!! Some new photos have been added to Seamus' offspring gallery if you want to look.
Some really happy news to report that Holly has been scanned and is indeed in whelp. Hoorah!! Eight pups were seen on the scan with may be one or two more hiding away but eight would be just fine! So now we are on the countdown to October 8th when the puppies are due.
